4-H beading class and Spring Show

This year in 4-H I was the project leader for the beading class. I can't remember if I already blogged about this but I'm gonna anyway ;) There were 5 girls in the class and we met once a month to learn new beading techniques. The year started in Feb for us and was over after the Spring Show in May. The Spring Show is where the kids display the things they've made, and for those involved with the animals, this is when they show them and auction them off if they wish. The older kids (9+) get judged on how well they did. (Bragging Time: My niece is in 4-H where she lives and is going to State for the outfit she sewed!) The younger kids get Participation Ribbons for all the items they enter.

For the Spring Show our club was in charge of decorating for the Buyers Luncheon...a luncheon provided to the people who buy the animals that are auctioned. Brooke and Kelsie volunteered to make clovers to go on the tables. They made 130 green clovers then realized that some of the tables would have green table clothes. So we sponge painted some white so they would stand out more. It took forever, but I'm glad the girls were able to feel proud about completing the project AND that they thought it through enough to recognize they needed white clovers too!




(I couldn't get the picture the right way...sorry) Here is Brooke's midnight bracelet and ribbon. Kelsie's is the gold-ish one. It was supposed to be a bracelet but the beads were bigger, so it fits like a choker. :)
This is a pair of earing another member of the group made and won "Outstanding Achievement".
