Last minute mini-vacation

Yesterday we enjoyed a Stake picnic in Dixon. The girls won a couple of fish and some toys from the games they had there. And we had a nice visit with some ward members. After lunch it was getting too hot for me, so we went home early. After being home a bit, the kids were cranky and I was hot. No one really wanted to be there. Thats when Mark mentioned going to Lake Tahoe to get away. I played along and said "Sure, why not...we have nothing better to do". He was on his computer so fast, looking up hotels for the night. About 30 mins later, I had our stuff in the car and he had the reservation set. He decided that if we were going, he might as well make the best of it. He booked a room in Nevada at Boomtown, a casino that HAPPENS to share a parking lot with Cabela's (one of his favorite stores). :) With our gas price war here in Davis (it went from $4.50 to $3.99 over night) and the cheap Nevada room, we made off pretty good. We spent a good amount of time at Cabela's then went to the hotel to what turned out to be a very long night. Evidently Becca doesn't like sleeping in a strange room. She was up screaming till after midnight. I hope this doesn't happen when the baby's born and she's at my folks place...that would be bad. Anyway, the next morning was great! Instead of going to Tahoe, we went to Donner Lake which is a lot closer and it was soooo much fun. There were tons of butterflies all over the shore that the girls spent their time trying to catch. It was a little windy, but welcoming compared to the insane heat in Davis. Kel and Shay were the only ones brave enough to actually get in the water, but it was still a good day :) Next summer we plan on going back to Donner to actually camp...it was really nice and clean with good size sites that should fit our tent ;)/u5

We didn't realize how funny this pic was till after the fact. Becca with one leg and Kel hiding behind a "fig leaf" with a butterfly on her face. :)
